Dr. Noreen Fowler had always been captivated by the intricate dance between biology and technology. As a young medical student, she dedicated herself to the cutting-edge field of biotechnology, driven by a relentless curiosity to understand how innovation could reshape the healthcare industry. She made amazing breakthroughs in her practice of medicine and biotech which enabled her to develop formulas that could reprogram the body's stem cells to rejuvenate or even mutate into other cells.
After years of groundbreaking research and development, Noreen emerged as a renowned stem cell specialist. She used her expertise to create new medications that could be injected or used orally to treat various illnesses with her rejuvenation formulas. Her developments of the mutation formulas had not been used on humans just yet, because they caused abnormal and hideous cell mutations that crippled test animals. She never documented or reported these findings to her peers.
From Biotech to Disability Doctor
Dr. Fowler made a bold decision to shift her focus, transitioning from the forefront of biotechnology to the realm of disability medicine. Armed with her expertise she became a lead disability doctor and was able to turn some lives around for people who were temporarily disabled and heal them with her stem cell rejuvenation formulas.
She healed dozens of patients within her first year and the majority of her patients were given a clean bill of health. The main problem she had was that the patients who fully recovered didn't want to return back to work, ever again. This infuriated Dr. Fowler that they did not return back to work, so she decided to make a change!
As Dr. Fowler grew more and more agitated with her patients not returning back to work, she made a switch from using her rejuvenation formulas, to using the mutation formulas which were undisclosed in her research and development. Since her patients want to drop out of society and not return to work, she was intent on making it easier for them to remain in the state that they desired. She began using the mutation formulas on her patients which produced different outcomes for each patient, but the final results were all the same. The patients became permanently disabled!
A Crippling Solution to Disability
Her process was fairly simple. Partially disabled individuals would be evaluated for permanent disability. They would have to agree to be treated for their condition by Dr. Fowler before their claim could be approved. The treatment involves an injection of Dr. Fowler's serum on the injured or affected area of the patient's body. A few weeks later, a follow up visit would be made to determine the approval decision which had a 99% success rate for locking in a permanent disability.
A patient came in to be evaluated for chronic, migraine headaches. He could not focus or concentrate because the headaches were so debilitating. Dr. Fowler proceeded to treat him with an injection right behind his ear. He claimed to have felt better for just a few days. When he returned to his follow-up appointment with Dr. Fowler, his head was abnormally swollen to the point of deformity! Dr. Fowler immediately placed the patient on permanent disability after having a good laugh behind the patient's back. She became intent on doing this for ALL of her patients.
Another patient came in with a workers' compensation claim. He fell off the forklift performing warehouse work at the job. He claims to have injured his arm, shoulder and back and now he's unable to work at his older age. Dr. Fowler jumped right on the case. She prepared her mutation formula with needle in hand. She had a little bit of a struggle injecting the serum into the patients arm because he was skeptical of the treatment and also feared needles. He came back for his follow-up with Dr. Fowler and she snickered at the first sight of him. His arm and shoulder were deformed and his back became so stiff he could no longer bend over. She immediately placed him on permanent disability after having a good laugh in the next room.
The Detective Investigates
Dr. Fowler was having way too much fun. After several months, dozens of patients had become permanently disabled after Dr. Fowler's treatment. Suspicion was aroused and a detective named Edwardo Ramirez stepped in to perform an investigation on Fowler's practice. He observed a few patients come in for treatment and became worse. After digging and finding out about her mutation formula, he invited Dr. Fowler for lunch to discuss her rejuvenation and mutation formulas in more detail. His plan was to build a case against the doctor and then have her practice shut down.
Fowler knew she was under investigation but agreed to the lunch anyway. Her plan was to stop the detective before he could document any foul play to have her shut down or arrested. She prepared her formulas inside of the needles so that she could present them to the detective during the lunch. Dr. Fowler intended to somehow inject detective Ramirez with the mutation formula to cripple him, so that he could no longer work on the case. The formula she made for the detective was extra potent.
Both detective Ramirez and Dr. Fowler met for a brief luncheon at the coffee shop. They were seated at a table, and they ordered a coffee and bagel as the interrogation began about the formulas, she's been using to treat her patients. Dr. Fowler had an extra, smaller needle in her coat pocket especially for Ramirez. She grabbed the needle as the questions were coming.
She was contemplating on sticking him in the leg during the questioning, but then the coffee arrived. The detective's cell phone rang at the very same time. He excused himself and briefly turned around in his chair to answer the call. Dr. Fowler took the opportunity to quickly inject the serum into his coffee while he was not looking. She had to be fast, the call was only 10 seconds but Ramirez did not see a thing!
Detective Ramirez took a few sips of his coffee as he continued to interrogate. He even made complements about the taste of the coffee as he took a couple more sips. It didn't take long at all for the effects of the serum to begin to change the chemistry of the detective's entire body. His skin began to crack, and his muscles became stiff as if he was suffering from rigor mortis. His appearance drastically changed as if he was 90 years old!
The staff noticed Ramirez's condition and made a call to 911 immediately. He could only mumble his words and could not explain or recall anything. The detective was quickly rushed off to the hospital. The next day he was pronounced as being in a vegetative state. He had lost all capacity for awareness, thought, and conscious behavior. Additionally, Dr. Fowler presided over his case and placed him on permanent disability after having a few laughs during the process.
Merovingian's Disability Solution
After the detective incident, Dr. Fowler came to the conclusion that her practice was under surveillance. She decided to stop using her stem cell mutation formula for now and switched back to using the stem cell rejuvenation formula for her patients. She healed a few patients using this formula to get her record back on track. Everything was going well until she received a message on her phone from a man she's never heard from. The message said, "I know about your mutation formula, and I will fight fire with fire!" Just then she remembered there was a call to the detective at the lunch.
When detective Ramirez answered the phone during the interrogation, it was his boss calling, his name is detective James Merovingian. Unbeknownst to Dr. Fowler, detective Merovingian was planning to make an arrest on the spot. Now that detective Ramirez was paralyzed, he can no longer arrest her. At this point he wants her stopped. Detective Merovingian dug up her history, asked a lot of questions, and finally found the recipes to both rejuvenation and mutation formulas.
He didn't intend to arrest her any longer. And he was not interested in the rejuvenation formula, so he discarded it. The mutation formula is all he wanted to keep, as he wanted to give Dr. Fowler a taste of her own medicine. Dr. Fowler soon found out there was a secret investigator asking questions and peers revealed to her that detective Merovingian was on the case. She discovered that her secret files had been tampered with and now her cover was blown. She said to herself, "This means war!". She had to make a decision to either fight or leave. She decided to leave.
The next morning, detective Merovingian quickly prepared a concoction of the mutation formula in an aerosol spray. With the spray in his possession, he rushed to Dr. Fowler's office unannounced. When he arrived at the office Dr. Fowler had already resigned without notice and was packing things up. When detective Merovingian stepped into the office he said, "Just in time!" Dr. Fowler asked, "Who are you?" He said who he was and there was a sudden quick draw of weaponry from both of them.
Dr. Fowler pulled out a large syringe while detective Merovingian pulled out the aerosol spray container. They both raised their weapons, but the spray got to her first. He sprayed her entire face with her very own mutation formula before she could inject him. She let out a faint scream and then went through a series of deformity changes on her face. Detective Merovingian quickly discarded the syringe and the spray before calling the paramedics. Dr. Fowler could no longer speak as her vocals had eroded.
The next day Dr. Noreen Fowler was declared, permanently disabled. She could no longer speak, hear or smell and her vision became blurry. No one else found out about the mutation formula so detective Merovingian kept the formulas to himself. Dr. Fowler's office had to close as her formulas were no longer in use to treat patients. Since detective James Merovingian did not destroy the formula, he contemplated on what HE wanted to do with it next!
